Grand Canyon at Sunset

This was very different from the last few canyon paintings, in that I let the horizon line take over the composition. I wanted to contrast the sky with the ground here, specifically the clouds, freely painted, soft texture, wide-open space against the dark, strained, overwrought, even tortured foreground.
